Hi !
My name is Kier and I’m a self taught musician from the UK. I have been playing the guitar on and off for twenty years and a few years ago I decided to quit my job as an electrician to become a full time musician.
I am a solo artist and produce my own music in my home studio to accompany me on stage. I sing and play the electric and acoustic guitars and use keyboards, bass and drum machines to create my backing. I do a lot of street busking and the odd bit of teaching.

Last year I injured myself and got into web site creation while taking a break from the guitar. I’d been meaning to build a site for years and finally got round to doing it.
I decided to create a web site to help people find their way through the hassles of becoming a musician. I’ve had to learn everything the hard way over the last few years and know just how much difference a little advice can make to someone facing the same situations. If I can share with you a few things I have learned over the years, it might make life a little easier for those just starting out.
Everything on this site is my own work (apart from a little help with the Top 100) and all opinions are my own and subject to your own interpretation. If you disagree with me, just drop me a line and tell me what you think. I’m always open to a bit of constructive criticism.

At the moment I’m in the process of rebuilding my life as a full time musician, which is a long up hill struggle. New commitments with my artisan business and an ever growing guitar blog, trying to juggle family life, work and guitar playing is going to take some doing. Spending half my waking hours building this web site into something worth while doesn’t help, but it’s a lot of fun, and you will see as time progresses that this site has and will have a lot more to offer.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my site. If you like what you see, then give us a helping hand and stumble, digg, bookmark or even favourite some of my pages, better still, tell someone about it and help push some traffic this way.
If you want to take a look at something completely different, check out my new artisan website for some amazing handmade goods and instruments from the Andes.
You can also find me on Stumble, Facebook,Twitter, Blog Catalogue, Technorati and Guitar World.
…or maybe in a street near you !
Thanks a lot.
Kier

Hi, really liking reading your website – great resource for guitarists too. Would really like to see the top 100 blog list – can you email it? all the best, Sara
Hopefully the Top 100 will returning to Street Musician within the next few weeks, new and improved.
Hi Kier. I’ve been playing guitar for years and have just gone through the same process of wishing I’d paid more attention to my scales. I’m currently crawling my way through a couple of monotonous theory books, but your scales advice is much more accessible and fun! Kudos to you, I am indebted.
Great blog! Thanks and all the best,
Phill
Thanks Phill. I appreciate your comments.
I meant to put up a whole lot more about the subject but have recently been side tracked by my artisan business. Hopefully when that’s all sorted I can get back to writing more posts on scales and stuff.
Cheers
