So how did this site come to sell handmade Bolivian instruments ?

Since the creation of this blog, Street Musician has spread itself out in many different directions over the last year and being a relatively new blog I still have many great things in mind for it’s future. I guess you could say we haven’t even begun yet.

It was never my original intention to start selling instruments as a way of providing an income for the thousands of hours work that go into creating this site, but as you can imagine, being a musician, selling instruments has always been something I would have loved to get involved with, especially as it perfectly compliments my own career.

Over the last few months however, I have been extremely fortunate in finding myself in the position of having a close family network across the globe who are now able to personally seek out these instruments from genuine artisan sources and under strict regulation and instruction from me, can help provide them for sale to my readers through this blog.

My intention is to provide musicians such as myself with good quality instruments at prices way below that of a shop or manufacturer, as I believe music should come at an affordable price to all those who seek it’s rewards.

At the moment I only have a very limited choice of goods for sale, but if this project becomes successful over the next few months, then the choice and range of instruments I will be able to provide will become much greater and more elaborate as the site expands.

Hopefully we will be able to build a strong ethical business model which will help support the artisanean communities from which these instruments are made and help improve the lives of all those involved in bringing them to you.

This project will also help provide an income for this site and help maintain and improve Street Musician to ensure it’s long term future.

Together, we can help spread the music across the globe.

Thanks.

Hi !

My name is Kier and I’m a self taught musician from the UK. I have been playing the guitar on and off for twenty years and a few years ago I decided to quit my job as an electrician to become a full time musician.

I am a solo artist and produce my own music in my home studio to accompany me on stage. I sing and play the electric and acoustic guitars and use keyboards, bass and drum machines to create my backing. I do a lot of street busking and the odd bit of teaching.

Me and my daughter

Last year I injured myself and got into web site creation while taking a break from the guitar. I’d been meaning to build a site for years and finally got round to doing it.

I decided to create a web site to help people find their way through the hassles of becoming a musician. I’ve had to learn everything the hard way over the last few years and know just how much difference a little advice can make to someone facing the same situations. If I can share with you a few things I have learned over the years, it might make life a little easier for those just starting out.

Everything on this site is my own work (apart from a little help with the Top 100) and all opinions are my own and subject to your own interpretation. If you disagree with me, just drop me a line and tell me what you think. I’m always open to a bit of constructive criticism.

At the moment I’m in the process of rebuilding my life as a full time musician, which is a long up hill struggle. New commitments with my artisan business and an ever growing guitar blog, trying to juggle family life, work and guitar playing is going to take some doing. Spending half my waking hours building this web site into something worth while doesn’t help, but it’s a lot of fun, and you will see as time progresses that this site has and will have a lot more to offer.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my site. If you like what you see, then give us a helping hand and stumble, digg, bookmark or even favourite some of my pages, better still, tell someone about it and help push some traffic this way.

If you want to take a look at something completely different, check out my new artisan website for some amazing handmade goods and instruments from the Andes.

You can also find me on Stumble, Facebook,Twitter, Blog Catalogue, Technorati and Guitar World.

…or maybe in a street near you !

Thanks a lot.

Over the last year or so Street Musician has been scouring the web for the best guitar blogs on the net and placed them all here in one place for you to check out.

Between them, these great blogs provide a huge wealth of information for players of all levels of experience and should not be missed by any guitarist seeking to improve their skills, knowledge and playing ability.

These blogs have been written by people from all around the world who have one thing in common, the love of the guitar. From gigging musicians to guitar makers, teachers, experts and enthusiasts from all styles and cultures. They are musicians who have spent their whole lives playing, gigging and teaching, who’s love of the guitar has spurred them into blogging. Their collective experiences and expertise are well worth tapping into.

Each blog has its own unique style and content, some focus on teaching, some on weird guitars, some with reviews, humour, videos, lessons, bands, equipment, you name it – someone’s blogging it.

The blogs are ranked using Google PR, Technorati and Alexa rankings, but each unique blog will have something different to offer the user. Many of these blogs will have not been seen by the masses and so might not rank highly but their content may still be invaluable.

Remember to check them all out and not just the one’s at the top of the list. Take your time and visit one or two blogs a day. You will soon find some little gems you never knew existed.
